The 2026 Sofia Art and Music Festival brought together an outstanding international community of composers, conductors, performers, faculty, and artists in Sofia. The festival featured three orchestral concerts with the Sofia Philharmonic and four chamber concerts, including performances by Bluestone Contemporary Ensemble, Wire and Whimsy, and Chicago-based Ensemble Dal Niente, one of the leading contemporary music ensembles in the world.

Participant conductors received extensive podium time, master classes, lectures, and opportunities to work with both the orchestra and guest ensembles, while composers took part in lessons, lectures, rehearsals, and performances of their music. Guest artist Li Zhang presented an exhibition that became an integral part of the festival experience, engaging participants and audiences throughout the event.

With exceptional performances, a remarkable level of talent, and meaningful artistic exchange, SAMF 2026 was a memorable first edition and established a strong foundation for the festival’s future.
